Appeal issued by the 8 / 365 Movement

Women of Kyrgyzstan, workers in all spheres and workers in the home!

This year we have chosen as the theme of our march the solidarity of the women of the world against war, and we call on all anti-war forces to join us in a peaceful protest. The war in Ukraine concerns us all!

We strongly condemn any arguments in favor of the continuation of hostilities in Ukraine and stand for the establishment of a just peace in the interests of ordinary people.

This war is the result of militaristic actions and political priorities that have dominated world politics for many decades. Recent wars in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Ukraine have led to the deepest tragedy for the peoples of these countries, and prove that there can be no progressive sides in the imperial re-partitioning of the world. We are witnessing how, under the banner of “liberation and protection of women,” wars are unleashed in which real women and children die, starve, lose loved ones, and are expelled from their homes.

That is why we recall the demonstration by workers in St. Petersburg on March 8, 1917 under the slogan "Peace and Bread", which became a historic protest by women against the First World War, unleashed by imperialist forces just as now in the heart of Europe. On that day in 1917, the strength of women's solidarity brought 100,000 people onto the streets, putting an end to the Tsarist regime in Russia. This example of the power of mass collective action inspires us up until today.

On March 8, we come together to express international, intersectional, class, and interfaith solidarity with all who recognize, respect and protect the right of people, regardless of sex and gender, to live a life free from exploitation, discrimination, violence and war.

For the solidarity of working women against incitements to war and militarism!

For humanitarian support to all victims of the conflict, regardless of their race, ethnicity and citizenship!

Refuse to finance the murderous war machine! Devote the world’s riches to social needs!

For solidarity in the fight for equality!

Women of Kyrgyzstan and all countries, unite in the fight against war!
